Overview
Church-Owned Bible Translation (COBT) is a philosophy of ministry founded on the belief that God intends to include all believers in every language of the world to steward Scripture and spread the gospel. Therefore, we have developed the Eight Steps methodology, and several processes for implementing it, to support local churches in translating the Bible for themselves and their communities.
A branch of this methodology supports Deaf believers of many countries in translating Scripture into their own sign languages.
Eight Steps of COBT
Church-Owned Bible Translation (COBT) uses the Eight Steps process (known previously as MAST). The first four Steps are used to quickly and naturally translate a draft of Scripture. The last four Steps are used to carefully develop the draft into a full translation, checking it for accuracy and clarity.
